The non-alcoholic IPA is the deepest and most competitive style I track, with more brands and more SKUs than any other NA category. There's a technical reason it got that crowded. An IPA is defined by hop aroma, hop flavor, and bitterness, and all three come from hops rather than from alcohol, so the character that makes an IPA an IPA survives dealcoholization better than almost any other style. The hard part is everything alcohol leaves behind. Alcohol contributes body, mouthfeel, a bit of sweetness, and warmth, so once you remove it a poorly made NA IPA reads thin and watery even when the hop aroma is strong. Do non-alcoholic IPAs taste like real IPAs?

What is the difference between a hazy and a West Coast non-alcoholic IPA?
